Lessons with Jasmine – 003 – Spaghetti and Meatballs

Yep, that old Italian classic! It’s pretty easy and simple to make, but I won’t lie; it’s time-consuming. However, if you really want to impress someone with your cooking skills, this is the way to go!

You will need:

Meatballs:

3 pounds of ground beef

1 pound of ground turkey

2 Tbs parsley

1/3 cup of grated Romano cheese

3/4 cup of breadcrumbs

3 eggs

2 cloves of garlic

1 onion

Some extra virgin olive oil
Sauce:

2 one pound cans of crushed tomatoes

8 fifteen ounce cans of tomato sauce

2 small cans of tomato paste

1 pound of sweet Italian sausage

1 clove of garlic

2 Tbs of sugar

2 Tbs of oregano

2 Tbs of basil

Spaghetti noodles

A large stock pot

A spoon (wooden, ideally)

A skillet

A baking dish

A food chopper

Lessons with Jasmine – 002 – Breakfast

Who wants a delicious breakfast? You want a delicious breakfast. So does Jasmine, and so today, I taught her how to make one!

You will need:

1 dozen eggs

1 load of bread (in our case we used sourdough)

1 package of bacon

1 package of sausages (we used two because we wanted different kinds)

1 teaspoon of vanilla extra (real please, not that imitation crap)

1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

Butter (optional)

Syrup (optional)

Skillet

Cooking tongs

Pancake flipper

Whisk

Lessons for Jasmine – 001 – Fried Chicken

What is Jasmine, you might ask? This is Jasmine.

Jasmine is a friend of mine who a year ago didn’t really know how to cook. In that time, I’ve taught her how to make shepherd’s pie, a pavlova, homemade fries, hamburgers, and a number of other things.

Tonight, I’m teaching her how to make fried chicken, and you can play along at home!

You will need:

1 Chicken

2 large eggs

1 quart of buttermilk

Four cups of flour

Paprika, garlic, salt, pepper, and poultry seasoning

Shortening

A cast iron skillet (or an electric skillet)

Tongs

A meat thermometer

A cutting board

A chef’s knife
